SETTLE WELL PROJECT

Project Background

The SWP offers personalised and holistic support to support and empower new arrivals from Hong Kong BN(O). It aims to directly enable BN(O) status holders and their dependents to be an integral part of and positively contribute to British society, understanding their rights and entitlements. The SWP will deliver three main components, each designed to provide support and empowerment for successful integration.

1. We offer an intensive two-hour course per week. The course aims to improve your knowledge of UK history and culture by focusing on the region's most representative historical sites and facts. The weekly session covers Early and Modern Britain, Industrialisation, Arts and Culture, Health (NHS), Religion, British Government, British Values and Principles, and organised trips to National Parks, equipping you with practical knowledge and skills for life in the UK.

2. This project continues with the Yum Cha project activities: Regular Sessions focus on improving the well-being of participants above the age of 50, mainly but not exclusively, helping them engage with regular well-being workshops, arts and crafts, yoga, and Taichi and grow in confidence in travelling using public transport and visiting areas of historic/natural interest, keeping active and healthy, and avoiding isolation in walking groups. Finally, they strengthen their friendships and networks.

3. An unaccredited classroom-based ESOL Speaking and Listening weekly session
focusing on improving participants' communication skills and confidence.
